Due to the lack of sightseeing options in Frankfurt (the mall is one of its top 10 tourist attractions) we decided to take a day-trip to Heidelberg while we were in the area.
To start we drove a little past Heidelberg up into the mountains (to pass the time while Ezra got a little extra napping in) and came to a town that had four castles! The castles in Germany are pervasive. The grounds at most of the small ones are set up similar to a small monument in the U.S. At this castle they had a couple of small plaques explaining the place and you could pretty much climb and walk anywhere you pleased. There were no guards or toll stations.
The whole place felt a little Secret Garden-ish with the ivy on all of the walls.
Over looking the river from the castle grounds.
Checking out the mushrooms growing out of the wall.
From there we drove back down to Heidelberg. Keith insisted I include this picture (source link) to show how beautiful Heidelberg is. Lit up in the back is the main Heidelberg castle. In the foreground is the "old bridge". The lights in the top right corner are the funicular that takes you to the summit.
At the castle grounds. While we were there I took a picture for a Korean family and had fun brushing up on my Korean.
Ezra was doing a lot of walking practice while we were on the trip. He didn't walk while we were there, but he did some official walking yesterday!

Neat! Castles and Ezra walking. Sounds like you guys are doing great! Keep the pictures coming!
Wow! What a beautiful city! How exciting that Ezra's almost walking. Be sure to post a video!!
That looks like it was a pretty fun day trip. I loved all those pictures. I especially liked the momish pictures of Keith's wearing his jacket around his waist...very fashionable.
I love to read things on your blog, especially when I know where they are and have been there. Fun! Also, your son is so cute and that's so exciting that he's walking. You must be a proud Momma. When i see him I secretly want to have a little boy too.
We went to Heidelberg!
