Tour de Vienna

A while back we posted about this trip to Melk and Krems. In the post we mentioned that there is a really great bike path there that runs along the Danube all the way to Hungry. We finally had a chance to try out a small segment this weekend and it was fantastic. It's a "must see/do" if you come to Vienna.

We were worried the weather was going to be too cold, but it ended up being really warm. In fact, we had to cake a bunch of sunscreen on Ezra because it was so sunny.

A few pics from the trip:

Some vineyards along the way

Taking a break in one of the little towns we passed through

More snacks along the way

I almost forgot to add that both Keith and my bikes were stolen (mostly our fault). I've since been told that bicycles are one of the top items stolen in Vienna. In any case, we found a company to rent our bikes from that also rented the bike trailer. Keith made all the arrangements for us, in German no less.

I ended up getting a "beach cruiser" of which I've been wanting to try out for a long time. I found out that they are very heavy. Lucky for me the path is mostly flat and a pretty easy ride. Ezra did great in the bike trailer. At one point Keith was doing one of his routine checks to make sure all was well with the trailer and saw Ezra was slumped over forward. Keith quickly pulled over, ready to do CPR. Fortunately Ezra had just been lulled to sleep by the bumps in the road and seemed to be a little annoyed that we stopped moving just to wake him up.

The scenery is beautiful!! Good thing Ezra is sleeping...just take pics so you can tell him he was there. (that is what I am doing for Rohnan- a baby book of pics galore)
:0)

Right, I should have mentioned how we got the bikes. We rented some bikes. I was so proud of Keith, he made the whole reservation in German including arranging a meeting spot at the train station and making sure we got a baby trailer!

Wow! What a beautiful, cool ride! Ezra looks so big in those pics! I'm sorry your bikes got stolen, that stinks, but that's great you were able to rent these ones and even a baby trailer! fun!

Haha. Keith cracks me up. Of course when I read the line about Ezzie being slumped over I automatically think "he fell asleep"...I started laughing out loud when I continued on to find out that keith's first thought was CPR. Ezzie is looking so grown up. and chunky. I love it!

Bummer about your bikes getting stolen. I have been wanting a bike for so long now, but now I just want to rent a bike in Vienna. It looks so pretty! And seriously Ezra just gets cuter and cuter in every picture I see.
