14 Days of Natalie and Ezzie (Day 1)

Yesterday I sent off Natalie and Ezra back to the States for Natalie's little sister's wedding. So I'm going to be a bachelor for approx. the next 2-1/2 weeks. I think the German word for this kind of bachelor, "Strohwitwer" -- literally "straw widower" -- is much more fitting. It's been less than 48 hours and it already feels like the longest 2-1/2 weeks of my life.

I hate to admit it, but I'm totally lost without Natalie and Ezra. I spent most of my day yesterday in front of the computer looking on-line at this map and mindlessly clicking the refresh button every so often...

Since I don't have much else to do, I'm going to blog about them once each day for the next 14 days. Each day I'll post one reason I love Natalie (in no particular order of importance) and a little something about Ezzie.

So without further adieu...

I Love Natalie, Reason #1: She is a serious trooper. I really hate to admit this, but I talked Natalie into buying a flight back to the States with a crazy itinerary because it saved us about $800-$1000. It included three plane changes and six airports and about 29 hours of travel time from door to door. She even had to pick up her luggage half way and then re-check it with another airline (just to be clear, that means going through security two separate times). - Oh yeah, all with an 11 month old baby. (Yes, that explains her previous post about her "flying phobia".)

Ezzie, Day #1: Recently Ezra really started enjoying the playground (more about that in a later post). The sand is a favorite. And of course the sand is way more fun with a little water...

No, the mud didn't come out of his shirt.

These cute girls are the kids of two new Austrian friends Natalie and Ezra made at the park a few weeks ago.

best secret for getting stuff out of kids clothes: 1/2 cup of powdered Cascade (dish soap) and 1 cup of bleach in hot water. Let it soak to let the stain lift. It is amazing. Of course, if it is a colored fabric it may change the color too but I always figured if it couldn't be worn as it was, I might as well give it a shot.

Good luck on your 2 1/2 week bachelorhood. (John always likes it when I leave cuz he can sprawl across the bed and no one complains):)

We can count down the next two weeks together! For very different reasons of course, but maybe it will make the days go by faster. Good luck being a bachelor! Josh always loves it for a day and then is miserable until we come back.

Good luck being a bachelor. Justin just left this morning for three weeks. It's hard to keep your mind busy. I hope it goes fast for you :)
